Clean Truck Check - What You Need To Know
2024 Clean Truck Check Requirements to Avoid DMV Registration Holds:
- Register in the Clean Truck Check Database: https://cleantruckcheck.arb.ca.gov/
- Ensure that you use an email address when creating your account username
- Add all owned vehicles to the database and identify if they were owned in 2023
- Pay the $30/Vehicle Compliance Fee on the Clean Truck Check Website
- Subject to a $0.90 Transaction Fee Per Vehicle
- Download, print and present your Clean Truck Check Compliance Certificate to your local DMV to retain your vehicle registration

- Is the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program in Effect this year?
- Per CARB there is no PSIP requirement in 2024 as this program sunsets with the new CTC program
- Do I have to perform an OBD or OVI test on my vehicle this year?
- No, Per CARB testing does not start until January 2025
- You can submit a test as early as 90 days prior to the due date. For Example, if your vehicle Compliance Expiration is 1/1/2025, you can submit a test as early as 10/1/2024
- What Vehicles does this Program apply to?
- This program applies to Diesel and Alternative Fuel vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 14,000 lbs. or greater, including Motorhomes and Agricultural Vehicles
- Are Any Vehicles Exempt?
- Yes, Zero-tailpipe-emission trucks, Military tactical vehicles, Authorized emergency vehicles, Motorhomes registered outside of California, Vehicles operating under an experimental permit, Historical vehicles, Gasoline vehicles
- Is there any reason my vehicle would need to submit a test in 2024?
- Yes, if you received a Notice to Submit to Testing (NST) from CARB
- This means they identified your vehicle as a high emitter not following current emission regulations in the state of California
